4G logger setup
When there's no usable Wi-Fi on site: fit and register a Deye 4G cellular logger.
Updated 1 June 2026
Use a 4G logger where the customer’s Wi-Fi is weak, absent, or unreliable (rural sites, sheds, new builds before NBN). It’s essentially plug-and-play.
Steps
- With the inverter off, screw the 4G logger into the inverter’s COM / logger port and hand-tighten the collar.
- Confirm the SIM is seated (most units ship with the SIM pre-installed and data pre-activated — check the supplier note).
- Power up the inverter and watch the logger LED:
- Solid/steady = connected to the network and cloud.
- Blinking / off = still acquiring signal, or no coverage at that location.
- In DeyeCloud, add the logger to the plant by its SN (same as a Wi-Fi logger).
Tips
- Mount for signal: avoid metal switchboards/enclosures that shield the antenna. Relocating the logger 20–30 cm can be the difference between 1 and 4 bars.
- If it never connects, confirm coverage for the SIM’s carrier at that address and that the data plan is active.
Wi-Fi available instead? Use the Wi-Fi logger guide.
